With drone technology constantly evolving, big investment is bringing more advanced drones to the market every year. Drones, also known as unmanned aerial vehicle have caught the attention of various startups that are identifying the business opportunity in taking it off commercially.

The drones have quickly expanded into tools that can be used for various purposes like aerial photogrammetry, image sensors, topographical surveys etc. Infosys also made an investment in ideaForge, an Indian drone startup focused on Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) solutions.

An End-to-end Drone Solution:

Bengaluru - based drone startup Skylark Drones was founded by Mrinal Pai and Mughilan Thiru Ramasamy in 2014. Skylark's mission is to provide enterprise drone solutions for mining, infrastructure, and utilities. It also utilizes UAV services for aerial surveying, inspection, and mapping. Since the company's inception they have surveyed over 12789 acre till now.

Remote Sensing and UAV Inspection:

Another drone startup AirPix does aerial UAV industrial inspections by carrying out aerial survey through GIS, agriculture and mining, drone photography for the real estate and other important sectors. Started in 2013, the company works with its clients on a project basis on multiple sectors like Real Estate, Hospitality and Tourism, Corportate AV and Events.

Bringing Aerial Data to Organisations

The Delhi-based startup We Do Sky, captures aerial data through drones that can help industry and government make data-related decisions. The company has a large client base including startups like PropTiger, CommonFloor , as well as many popular companies like Supertech and Neemrana Hotels.

WeDoSky is focused on building software for solar, agriculture, mining industries for surveying faster, cheaper, easier, and better.

A Nano Drone Application Platform For Everyone

Started by three IITians Drona Aviation, a robotics company, known for developing and designing products and services in aero domain space launched a DIY nano drone, called Pluto in an effort to make drone flying more accessible. Pluto can be further customized for applications in Home Security, Fire Fighting, Industrial Monitoring and Defense Applications.

The company also conducts several workshops for school children to give hands-on experience with building aerial vehicle.
