LittleBits Founder: To Boost Creativity, We Must Demystify Technology Ayah Bdeir believes that everyone can be an inventor but people can get intimidated by a lack of understanding.

By Nina Zipkin

Ayah Bdeir built her startup LittleBits to help anyone gain a greater grasp of how technology actually works. Her company sells DIY kits that use open source building blocks. These pieces help users understand not just how a grand scale connected home could actually function, but how to design a solution of their own.

"The risk that we run as a society of not understanding technology [and] the world around us, is that we become passengers in our life. We become passive consumers of technology," says Bdeir. "I really believe that it's causing us to be less creative as a society and to be less adaptable to the problems that we have in the world."

For more from Ayah Bdeir and how to gain that creative confidence, watch this short video.
